Where Do You Start - When You Have To Start All Over

Life was one lonely terrain for the cute little cygnet, ostracized and shunned as he was by the rest of the barnyard fowl because his body and physique was so "hideous", so "abnormal" because it was so "different" from the rest. It was only when the "duckling" morphed into a beautiful swan, in fact the most beautiful swan of them all, that fellow fowls realized what a gem they had all along been having in their midst. Morphing, you see, is a necessary and unavoidable part of our life if we have to realize our fullest potential. Otherwise we will spend our entire life as a duckling, out of place and out of tune with the rest of the society, never arriving at the true station we deserve.

Crisis Brings About Change - Why Not Welcome Change With An Open Heart And A Cheerful Smile?

It was a favorite tack to break the ice in the class in a business school: I would begin the first OD (Organization Development) lecture by talking about Kurt Lewin and his ideas about how change takes place in an organizational setting; cite examples; and then invite them to draw parallels with their own lives. (You may google on the name to know more about Lewin's contribution to OD.)

From The Last Solstice To This - What Has Changed?

In just about a day's time as I write this piece, we will have hit the midpoint of the year. How time has flown! And to think that we were celebrating the New Year just the other day.

Decide To Not Be Bogged Down By Circumstance

Jerry (his nickname) will not forget March the seventh of last Friday in a hurry. For that was the day when the world as he knew it collapsed around him.

Where We Are Heading

The Inexorable March Of Mankind

Recently, I had the occasion to go through two books one after the other. One was by Alvin Toffler, "Previews & Premises".

The Frog That Found Itself In Boiling Water

Summary: Change management is a complex process - whether at an individual or organizational level. Whether it is realizing that the children have grown up and begun to have a mind of their own; or whether it is understanding that the loss of one's partner (divorce, death, separation) means that life has to move on; or whether it means the job one is in is no longer meaningful and it is time to look for alternatives... knowing that change is due and acting on the change is what keeps the cells rejuvenated and energized. The same holds true for an organization. This post looks at the process of change management from the worldview of a frog who finds himself, first in the water that he has lived all his life and which is becoming inhabitable ever so subtly; and the second time in waters that he plunges in headlong, only to realize that it is not to his taste.
