Subliminal Messaging - Historical Perspective

Though Subliminal Messaging as a concept had been formally documented in academic literature since the 1860s, it took the combination of a post- (Korean)-War mindset and the cunning of a market researcher (James Vicary) to bring the topic to public attention. Unfortunately, its linking with advertisement and "hidden persuasion", though sensational, also mired subliminal messaging in controversy.
